Brighton Bins stores your information on your iPhone. This policy explains the services it connects to and what happens when you contact us.

On your iPhone
Your saved addresses, collection history and preferences are stored on your iPhone. Schedules, collection-time estimates and notifications are managed there too. Widgets use the same locally stored information. We don’t run a server for the app, receive a copy of your saved data, or track how you use it.
Collection information and maps
The app connects directly to Brighton & Hove City Council to find addresses and check collections. Your search terms and selected property are sent to the council’s service, which also receives your IP address as part of the connection.
To show an address on a map, the app sends its street and postcode to Apple’s mapping service. If you open directions to a recycling site, the destination is passed to your chosen maps app. Brighton Bins doesn’t request access to your device’s location.
Notifications and Apple Reminders
Notifications are optional and are scheduled on your iPhone. If you enable Apple Reminders, iOS asks for full Reminders access so the app can read your lists and manage bin reminders in the list you choose. Reminder contents aren’t sent to us.
Your reminder list may sync through iCloud or another account, and may be visible to people you share it with. You can change notification and Reminders permissions in iPhone Settings.
Purchases
Apple handles Premium purchases. The app checks your purchase status with Apple to unlock features; we don’t receive your payment card details. Apple’s services are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
Keeping and removing your data
You can change saved addresses in the app. Deleting Brighton Bins removes its local app data. Reminders you’ve created and device backups are managed separately through Apple Reminders and your backup settings.
This website and your messages
The website uses Vercel for hosting and analytics, Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection and Resend for contact-form email delivery. These services process the information needed to provide them, including technical details such as your IP address and browser information.
Vercel Web Analytics counts visits so we can see which pages are used and improve the website. It doesn’t use cookies or identify you. It records the page you visit, the site that linked to it, and your approximate country, browser, operating system and device type, and the results are only shown to us as totals.
If you contact us, we use your name, email address and message to respond and help with your enquiry. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and related follow-up. We don’t sell your details or use them for marketing.
Our lawful basis for handling enquiries, keeping the website secure and measuring its use is our legitimate interest in providing support and running and improving the website. Our providers may process information outside the UK; their privacy information describes how they handle it: Vercel, Cloudflare and Resend.
Questions and your rights
We’re responsible for personal information you send to us. Get in touch with a privacy question or to ask to access, correct or delete information we hold about you. Depending on the circumstances, you can also ask us to restrict its use, object to its use or request a portable copy. You can raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
We’ll update this page if our privacy practices change.
